How Calculations Work
Back pay covers difference between old and new pay scales from April 2024. The 2025 deal includes 3.6% rise plus £1,226 flat amount for lower bands. Tool uses Agenda for Change scales and pro-rata calculation for part-time hours.
- Current basic pay × months worked = total earned
- New pay scale × same period = should have earned
- Difference = back pay owed (taxed at normal rates)

- Wrong pay point: Count complete years from your increment date, not hire date
- Full-time assumption: Always adjust for actual contracted hours per week
- Missing uplifts: Both 2024 (5.5%) and 2025 (3.6%) rises apply to back pay
- Date range: Use actual pay rise effective dates from your payslip
